JPEG and MPEG

The JPEG standard was developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO) committee called the Joint Photographic Expert Group (JPEG). This is suitable for almost all continuous-tone still image applications, and can be used to compress various-size still image applications. JPEG compression steps are Image block preparation (IBP), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Quantization, Run-Length encoding and Statistical encoding. MPEG is a series of standards designed to compress full-motion video and associated audio
